I have consulted in private practice in Claremont, Cape Town, South Africa since 1987, having qualified both as an Internist (specialist physician) in 1983 and an Endocrinologist in 1986. In the early years of private practice the scope of my work involved both these specialist disciplines.
Since mid-2003 I have limited the scope of my work as a Consultant Physician and Endocrinologist to include general aspects of Diabetic Care and its complications, Endocrine disorders, obesity, Executive Medical examinations, preventative non-invasive cardiology, problems of Blood Pressure control and abnormalities of Lipid metabolism and arterial disease. I also have an interest in Medico-Legal work, Insurance Medicals and Disability Assessments.
My consultation is thorough and includes a careful medical history, examination, and when necessary, ECG and Stress ECG testing, specific side room investigations, lung function testing. Patients are referred for pathology for various blood tests and where necessary radiological investigations and elaborate cardiological investigations if required.
I am a consultant in the Cape Town Surgical Bariatric Unit where problems of weight and obesity are addressed, assessed, and managed.
My support team includes a diabetic educator, a number of experienced and dedicated dietitians, a biokineticist, and colleagues in many specialist disciplines whom I have worked with for many years.
